Mandolins and Beer podcast host Daniel Patrick brings an original cross-tuned composition to Mandolin Mondays with his trusty Gibson F5G axe in tow.



Daniel is a full-time mandolinist from Charleston, SC. Recently, he started the successful podcast, Mandolins and Beer, which features thoughtful interviews with mandolin players such as Mike Marshall, John Reischman, Doyle Lawson and many others. Here's a word from Daniel about the piece in this video, "This is an original tune I wrote called 'The Shot Glass and the Sugar Cube.' I had been playing around with tuning the E strings down to D. I came up with the A section and then thought it might be cool to tune the G strings down to F# to give it an 'open D' feel....if you look close you can see my dog Blue sneak onto his studio chair behind my right arm near the end of the song."
