Spanish bluegrass torch-bearer and multi-instrumentalist Lluís Gómez stops by Mandolin Mondays to play his original tune in festive garb on this beautiful 2015 AZ mandolin built by Basque Country Luthier called Agustín Zubiaga.
Alison Brown calls Lluís Gómez the "Spanish King of the 5-string banjo," but he is also renowned as a violin and mandolin player as well as an instructor specializing in bluegrass, Celtic, and gypsy-jazz music. He's the director of the Al Ras Bluegrass Festival and the Barcelona Bluegrass Camp and a professor at the prestigious campus Virton, Belgium. He has shared the stage with acoustic greats such as Bill Keith, Tony Trischka, Jayme Stone, and many others.
Lluís is also the co-author of “Manual de iniciación al banjo de cinco cuerdas”--the very first banjo book written in Spanish and Catalan. Check it out here: https://www.amazon.es/GOMEZ-GIMENEZ-.../dp/B007OI8616
