Rating: 1 votes, 5.00 average.
Italy's mandolin ambassador Carlo Aonzo is with us this week for a very special Mandolin Mondays. Hear Carlo cut straight to the heart with his 1994 Gabriele Pandini bowl-back mandolin playing this beautiful Raffaele Calace classical piece.

Carlo is a native of Savona, Italy, but his efforts with the mandolin are know worldwide. His resume includes such items as playing at Carnegie Hall, performing privately in the Vatican for the Pope, and winning the Walnut Valley, KS, Winfield National Mandolin Contest--just to name a few. Not only is he known for his performances and extensive recorded work, Carlo is a huge mandolin activist and scholar--he directs countless mandolin orchestras, teaches workshops and seminars worldwide, and does mandolin research for the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians and other prestigious outlets.

Additionally, Carlo has a brand new album out with his trio called Mandolitaly--a compelling record that will take you on a tour through all the different musical canals of Carlo's native country. Check it out here: https://www.carloaonzo.com/mandolitaly-the-new-album

This video clearly shows how the right arm is relaxed and not pressing on the instrument or bridge. It is always a pleasure to see Carlo play.
