Rate this Entry
The great Danny Roberts of the award-winning bluegrass band The Grascals burns this original tune on his Sorensen VX mandolin this week on Mandolin Mondays.

Danny has had a prolific career with the mandolin since a his time growing up in Kentucky. In 1982 he co-founded the band New Tradition, a bluegrass/gospel group that toured the country for close to 20 years and recorded 10 albums. When the band went on hiatus, Danny went to work for Gibson Musical Instruments, where he rose to the position of plant manager at the company’s Original Acoustic Instruments luthiery.

In 2004 he helped found his current project The Grascals, who have since been Grammy-nominated 3 times as well as been given multiple IBMA awards. Danny himself has won the SPBGMA Mandolin Player of the Year award on 4 occasions. His latest solo album is a mandolin focused work called Nighthawk--full of great picking and original tunes.
