Mandolin Mondays #178 w/ Special Guest Roger Tallroth

Rating: 1 votes, 5.00 average.
Swedish guitarist Roger Tallroth of the band Väsen makes a special appearance on Mandolin Mondays this week with an original tune played on his Northfield flat top octave mandolin.

Though a talented multi-instrumentalist, Roger is perhaps most well known for his guitar work with the popular Swedish Folk group Väsen. He was a forming member of the trio which is now celebrating it's 30th anniversary. They just released a phenomenal new album to celebrate the occasion entitled Rule of 3. Check it out here: https://www.amazon.com/Rule-3-V%C3%A4sen/dp/B07PM9FX9L

In addition to his work with Väsen, Roger is also known as a collaborator, composer, and innovator. Over the years, he's made much music with the likes of Scott Nygaard, Mike Marshall, Darol Anger, Chris Thile, and many others. He's also been a pioneer of guitar cross-tunings--his development of the A-D-A-D-A-D tuning (or "Tallroth Tuning") has become a new standard for tradmusic in Scandinavia.

David

One of my favourite musicians. It's a treat to hear him playing an octave mandolin just on his own.

great stuff. I have been drooling over one of those flat tops since last August when I got to play Emory Lester's. Just a beautiful sound.
