Bluegrass mandolin legend Roland White is here on Mandolin Mondays this week with this classic tune done right on his custom 2004 Gibson F5.
Roland has perhaps one of the most impressive resumes in bluegrass history. Over the years, he’s contributed to such bands as The Kentucky Colonels, Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys, Lester Flatt and The Nashville Grass, The Country Gazette, The Nashville Bluegrass Band, and more. He’s won a host of awards and recognitions including 2 Grammys and an Induction into the Bluegrass Hall of Fame.
This year Roland has released a new project entitled Roland White and Friends: A Tribute to the Kentucky Colonels—a lovely project with some amazing collaborations. Check it out here: https://rolandwhite.com/store.html#r...hiteandfriends
Additionally, just in time for the holidays Roland has released a series of video lessons on his website where he demonstrates how to play chords and melodies to selection of favorite Christmas songs. Check them out here: https://rolandwhite.com/video.html He also has a companion book and CD called “Roland White’s Mandolin Christmas” that would make the perfect gift for any mandolin players in your life” https://rolandwhite.com/mandolinchristmas.html
Roland's mandolin is a custom Gibson F5 made for him in 2004 signed by Danny Roberts and assisted by Charlie Derrington.#The neck is smaller and unvarnished. It has no fingerboard extension, and has a somewhat thinner top.
