Mandolin Mondays #113 w/ Special Guest Dominick Leslie

Rating: 1 votes, 5.00 average.
The phenomenal Dominick Leslie stops by this week on Mandolin Mondays for a lovely tune played on his hoss of Gilchrist mandolin.

Originally from Colorado, Dominick has already had a leading role in the mandolin world for over a decade now. His exceptionally tasteful playing and distinct artistic voice have helped pave the way for a new generation of pickers. In 2004, he became the youngest contestant to ever win the Rockygrass mandolin competition. Since then he's gone on to be a part of some of the most influential new acoustic projects in recent years, including The Brotet, The Deadly Gentlemen, The Grant Gordy Quintet, and many others. Nowadays, you can hear him perform with the likes of Sam Reider and the Human Hands as well as Phoebe Hunt and the Gatherers.

Here Dominick gives us the scoop on the tune he plays in this video, "The tune is “Free in Gaspesie” written by my friend and collaborator Lena Jonsson on a trip to Gaspesie, Quebec. Lena is a brilliant fiddler and tunesmith from Sweden. Keep an eye out for her impending solo album!”

David
