Folk Alliance International Presents John Hartford's Good’le Days

Kansas City, Mo. — Folk Alliance International Presents Good'le Days, a celebration of the music of John Hartford on May 25 in Prohibition Hall, 1118 McGee St., 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Tickets are $8 in advance or $15 suggested donation at the door.

The evening is made possible in part by the Missouri Arts Council with support from Kansas Public Radio, KKFI 90.1 FM, KCUR, the Mandolin Cafe, and an instrument raffle by Bradford and Franzke Fine Instruments. The host for the evening is the legendary Chuck Haddix of the Saturday Night Fish Fry since 1985 on KCUR public radio.

Join a fantastic line-up of regional musicians as they pay tribute to the impressive and diverse body of work of this Missouri-born folk hero. Betse and Clarke and Brushy Creek form the evening House Band with guest appearances by The Matchsellers, Scenic Roots, Kelly Werts, Chad Brothers & Grady Keller (of Old Sound) and Kasey Rausch.

John Hartford was a legendary figure in the folk and bluegrass communities. After appearing on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour and writing the hit song "Gentle on My Mind" (popularized by Glenn Campbell), Hartford left the mainstream music industry for adventures in new-grass, song writing, Ozark fiddle tune collecting, Steamboat captain-ing, and curating music (including music for The Cohen Brothers Movie, O Brother Where Art Thou).

Folk Alliance International (FAI) is a 501c3 charity organization with a mission to nurture, engage and empower the international folk music community — traditional and contemporary, amateur and professional — through education, advocacy and performance.

FAI produces the Folk Alliance International Conference, the largest gathering for the professional folk music community. In 2016 FAI launched the Kansas City Folk Fest in conjunction with the conference.

Folk Alliance International has previously paid tribute to John Hartford at the 2011 Conference with national-level bluegrass performers.
