John Goodin's The North Georgia Hills for Mandolin Orchestra
Hamburg, Germany — Haus der Musik Trekel has announced the publication of John Goodin's "The North Georgia Hills," arranged for mandolin orchestra.

About this new work Goodin told us, "'The North Georgia Hills' was composed in 2015 for the Atlanta Mandolin Orchestra and was inspired by the compositions of both Norman and Nancy Blake arranged, with the assistance of Peter Ostroushko, for mandolin ensemble and released in 1983 on the album Original Underground Music from the Mysterious South.

The title is taken from a line in the song "Ginseng Sullivan," written by guitarist, mandolinist and composer Norman Blake in the early 1970s.

"The North Georgia Hills" was subsequently performed at the Classical Music Society of America convention in Austin in 2015 where a core group of Atlanta members were joined by a distinguished group of extras including Goodin, Carlo Aonzo, Rene Izquierdo, Jim Bates, Joel Hobbs and others.
