• First Annual Great Lakes Mandolin Camp Announced

    First Annual Great Lakes Mandolin CampGrand Rapids, Mich. — The 1st annual Great Lakes Mandolin Camp will be held here October 5-7, 2017 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

    Instructors are camp founder Brian Oberlin teaching swing, bluegrass and classical; and Don Stiernberg teaching swing and jazz.

    During the three days of mandolin immersion, each camper will experience six workshops from Brian and Don, four ensemble rehearsals, structured and non-structured jams and perform in the student and faculty concert.

    The maximum student capacity for the three days is limited to 30 campers which makes for smaller classes from some of the best mandolin players and teachers in the world.

    The cost is an affordable $300. Great Lakes Mandolin Camp sponsors have offered gift packages to the first 20 students to register.

    The tuition of $300 includes Camp activities. Campers are responsible for their room cost and food. The Crowne Plaza Hotel has a special rate for the GLMC Campers of $105 per night.

    Camp sponsors include Northfield Mandolins, Elderly Instruments and Triumph Music Academy.
