    Virtuoso mandolin meets spectacular tuba on the just released and aptly named Not Your Usual Mandolin and Tuba Duo.

    Original tunes, American folk, traditional Irish and more take the listener on an unexpected journey. Ports of call include powerful jams, jazz ballads, tender folk melodies and classical themes.

    The Musicians


    Bill Walach is a well known mandolinist and instructor for the past 30 years who has taught at many prestigious camps such as Mandolin Camp North.

    Gary Buttery is Adjunct Associate Professor of Music Director of Bands and Jazz Ensembles, and Tuba and Euphonium Instructor at Connecticut College since 1983.

      The preview cuts on amazon are a must.

      We like to tell people that are uptight about performing that they call it "playing music" because you're supposed to have fun doing it. These two are clearly having fun. What a great little project.

      They're not the only ones, actually. The French mandolinist Patrick Vaillant (Melonious Quartet) has long has a line-up with his pal Daniel Malavergne on tuba.
