  1. Mandolin Peghead Scroll Repaired

Here's one I thought you might like- there's a few of these out there!

After the scroll was broken off they filed it down on the peghead to soften the edges and blend in a bit. So, the old scroll (which they kept) wouldn't fit and a new scroll had to made.

    Before and after pics.
The owner wanted the back of the peghead left dull, but they can be shined up like the front.

  2. Peghead Make Over

Have a weathered peghead like this? Try stripping the old lacquer off, sanding, and applying a thin coat of Tung oil. Makes the shell pop again and is an easy low to no maintenance look. If it’s not something you’d like to try yourself, get in-touch with bruce to have it done for you.

  3. Finally Available

Just a note to let you know Bruce is building parts again. Whew! That move got more and more involved. Involved times, right?

Some may ask what kind of parts...
Original Traditional Bridge, pickguards, armrests, harmonic suppressors, truss rod covers...
Got something weird in mind? Go to our website to check them out, or to get contact info.

Of course he is continuing repair and customization, as usual.

    Thanks for your patience!!
  4. New Shop Update

Things are moving along now that it’s not winter anymore -for the moment anyway. We should be partially in the new shop in a few weeks, and can begin making parts and Rangers once again- Lord willing and the creek don’t rise (a bluegrass title if there ever was one). Things always take longer, especially if it's a 100 year old barn.
We really appreciate the patience of those waiting for pickguards, Rangers, etc.
*edited to add, Bruce is accepting all repairs and MAC instruments ...

We've named it Sound To Earth Orchard, of course.
  6. Our New Shop

We are settled in our new place and temporary shop. Bruce is accepting tune ups, repairs, customizations again! We also are accepting MAC Instruments to sell for you (we have two great ones on our website, now).
The Christmas season isn't usually the time you want to mess with this sort of thing, but I suddenly realized I hadn't posted here yet! If you have any questions or topics don't hesitate to email or give Bruce a call.

Here's hoping you have a very Merry Christmas ...

  7. We Are Moving!

Just a note to let you know the shop is now shutdown until September, when we're set up at our new place. The exception are our used MAC instruments will still be available (have one you won't want to miss coming up soon).
We'll miss the old school, but it's a bit big for us now, and we retain all of the memories of luthiers, players, vendors, dealers, and mandolins.

So schedule your Mando's trip to 'The Mando Spa', as several of our players have taken to calling it, in the ...

  8. Flatiron Mandolin Revamp

Here is a nice old Flatiron from a player in NJ who figures he’s going to be spending a lot more time with his mando and wanted it to play it’s best. He got a plane and re-fret, nut bone nut, new bridge, and as long as it was in the shop, added a scallop and custom inlay. Check out the great engraving job Bill did on the new James Tailpiece!
