I love this tune. It is in a mode used in klezmer music as well as Middle East oud playing. Tapas is a fine player and look at that Kermann style mandolin by Mintu Biswas. Very nice.

Another great mandolinist brought to our attention.

Fantastic playing, Tapas! Love the Kermann style mandolin and it sounds great, as does your playing.

Adrian is a truly exceptional mandolinist...I love hearing what he does. Check out his solos on the Slocan’s arrangement of ‘Grounghog’ here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4yWMy2rlkE , particularly the second one which starts at 2:11....highly original!

Excellent. You certainly conveyed the movement. This was so nice I had to go listen to the Jimmie Rodgers version, after which I came back and appreciated this one all the more! You really brought out the best in that venerable Gibson too.

I received a few messages from the people who were confused so I will write it also here to make this clear: this IS the natural tone of this mandolin. It's confirmed! Powerful, concrete and rich with plenty of natural sustain. NO pickup was used.

I love the tune; & hearing and seeing his students (& friends) play along on the song.
He's good at arranging music, and setting up versions of a piece so one can play along at
his or her level. (That observation comes from being able to attend the Mandolin Symposium in
    Santa Cruz over many summers.)

Oh no! If my wife, the conductor, sees this we're finished. Ha, ha. Actually our string orchestra (violin strings...) is working on a similar project.

Mike is indeed at the 'cutting edge' of online instruction. (And a big thank you to Martin Heitkamp.) Mike is a leader and inspiration to us all, not just the members of the 'mandolin world'.

As I remember the tonal qualities of this mandolin when I tried in in person I'm quite sure this is natural acoustic tone of the instrument (that there is no pickup or any sort of sustainer used on the recording). Am I right, Oskar? Would you please share with us what equipment did you use to record it? Thank you!

Oskar, thank you for the beautiful piece of music.

I really love music of Oskar's trio called Indiefolktrion.
They say about themselves that they play original energetic, melodic and playful music with elements of traditional Swedish music, improvisation, baroque and pop.
The trio consist of Oskar on the mandolin, Erik Dahl on the piano and Viktor Turegård on Double Bass.
They recorded an album called 'Indiefolk' a few years ago.
By the way Oskar plays this particular 2012 Váňa F5 Master Mandolin on the album.
