Interesting tune in the spirit of Jesse McReynolds with a personal twist.

    Is the mandolin this one:

I wanted to post the picture (that I even downloaded the picture), but there´s neither "paper clip" nor a choice wether to post a picture from a ULR or from your computer... Frustrating.

If it indeed is, it has been modified to look more loarish. Is it also this?

Beautiful F-5 Gilchrist, very nice singing and nice playing.

I want to bring two things to attention.
It is for people like David´s effort that a treasure trove of mandolin videos are building up, and that covers all sorts of styles (though I am a bluegrass guy, may I request more classical music, please).

Try to notice nuances. Check out this rhythm accompaniment and compare it to a Mike Compton rhythm (like on this series). This is where you learn and where the greatness of this series lies.

Also notice Cody Shuler´s ads on the cafe if you are instrument short (no financial interest).

Buchanan calls it a mandolin, and its scale length is 14.25", only a smidge longer than American standard mandolin scale. Most of my repertoire would be unplayable on a 16" scale, about which I am mystified. Viola scale length usually between 14.25" and 14.75". My viola is 14.5".

A big sound is mainly from a large enough volume, and mostly large top area. This instrument has 50% more internal volume than a Buchanan mandolin.
