  1. One hundred years old

So the only thing I know for sure about 2022 is that my Calace mandolin will celebrate it's' hundredth year sometime in this 12 months. It looks better than I do with 56 years of wear & tear.

  3. Visit to the Furniture Stores of the Victoria & Albert museum

Maxine organised for a group of us to visit the Furniture Stores of the Victoria & Albert museum at Blythe House in London. It took nine months to organise & I'm hugely grateful to her for the opportunity.

  4. New Mandolin

I've finally committed to buying The Mandolin, deposit cheque for 1500 going off in the morning. Scary given that's the most I'd ever paid for an instrument in the past (cello,& case). This one will come in at 4,000 and be pretty unique.

  5. Calace 58-A

I picked up this Calace 58-A to use as my new workhorse mandolin for my orchestral playing. It's got a few issues but has a lovely sound even before I've dealt with those. Click image for larger version.

Someone had added a zero fret at one time to make up for a nut that had worn too low with use. I'll be replacing that soon.
