  1. Help! Need to know about a 1954 Mandolin

    I have had an original GIBSON mandolin in the original case in my family forever however due to my handicap I can no longer play anymore but I would like to know what type it is? If itís an A40 ,A1 I mean itís absolutely beautiful and just had new strings put on and fine tuned! The seriel number is X 9542 1.2????

  8. Help in Identifying Instrument

    I recently purchased an old bowl-back mandolin. I found an exact replica on Reverb, leading me to believe it is an American Conservatory mandolin. There are no markings anywhere on the instrument. I took it to my luthier and he insisted it is a greek bouzuki and put bouzuki strings on it (D'Addario - nickel-plated steel) and tuned it to CFAD.
