  1. Mandolin Mondays #113 w/ Special Guest Dominick Leslie

The phenomenal Dominick Leslie stops by this week on Mandolin Mondays for a lovely tune played on his hoss of Gilchrist mandolin.

Originally from Colorado, Dominick has already had a leading role in the mandolin world for over a decade now. His exceptionally tasteful playing and distinct artistic voice have helped pave the way for a new generation of pickers. In 2004, he became the youngest contestant to ever win the Rockygrass ...

Ludwick, Mandolinist of A2ZZ Band writes:
Bruce did an amazing job on my harmonic suppressor! Not only did it cure unwanted ringing and buzzing, but totally added fashion to function by inlaying my signature in Abalone."

    Thanks, Z.Z.!!

This week Lauren Price of The Price Sisters joins us for some impressive Monroe stylings on her Buckeye mandolin.

  5. Have You Been Putting It Off?

    A Happy Player

Thank you for the excellent work you did on my Beartooth. It's like a new mandolin: it's easier to play with the new frets and radiused fretboard. I was always happy with this mandolin now I'm even more so. Thanks again! SM

  7. Mandolin Mondays #110 w/ Special Guest Mike Compton

The one and only Mike Compton stops in for Mandolin Mondays this week for a gut wrenching blues tune played on an amazing Lloyd Loar mandolin (July 9, 1923 #73725).

Mike has a mandolin curriculum vitae longer than anyone in the business. To name a few notable chapters in his career he was a founder of the Nashville Bluegrass Band, a longtime John Hartford collaborator, a member of the Soggy Bottom Boys ...
  8. Bragging Rights

There is a syndrome, in my experience much more common among some guitar players, where bragging rights accrue to getting the absolute cheapest most beat up instrument possible. I think it has to do with resolving the cognitive dissonance of playing blues, down and dirty blues, on a guitar costing a couple months pay, or more, at a good job. Authenticity, or something like. But whatever the reason, a fellow carrying a guitar that looks like it was found in the men's room of the New York City Port ...
