I have been using the original Siminoff book to build my first mandolin. It's pretty good for the beginner and it appears that the newest book promises to be even better. He seems to be a big name in the world of mandolin building instruction. After a couple of months hanging around here it struck me that I've never seen any mention of a mandolin built by Siminoff. So I'm wondering where the heck are they? How many are there? Have any of you seen/played/owned one? Are they average/good/fantastic? How much do they sell for? Just curious really.

I asked him the same question. He said that there are few floating around out there but he had know idea where they were at.

Well it looks like nobody here has ever seen a Siminoff built mandolin. Kind of hilarious when you think about it.

I have seen one in Flatwoods, Ky. some years back. I don't remember a whole lot about it though, I remember it looking like the one in the construction book.

The arching on that mandolin looks like an "old" Siminoff with the highest point of the top almost two inches behind the bridge, or is that optical illusion?
