I'm trying to find a good stage stand for my mandos. I've got a Konig and Meyer that works OK for my Godin A-8, but neither my Mandobird nor Rono fits it very well. What do yinz guys use?

Casatama pocket titan also distributed by Ibanez, has the compact folding thing going fot it, but not as secure as one that holds by the neck. the D'oh! factor... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

probably not a mandobird useful thing, but round end symmetrical stuff, ok.

check out the Hercules, an auto grab system [made for guitars though may be too wide, as is.]

Thanks for the recommendations! I got an Ultra that holds Homer's neck and cradles his bottom. But that weirdly shaped Mandobird bottom is still a challenge.

I use the Hercules and love it. But look for the model that has back support.

Violin stands are a nice option, as well...

Mandohack's stores sell one that clamps onto stuff, like your Mic stand,& theres one that clamps to the desk flange of music stands for violin too, may be adaptable to mandolins also.
j Pearse has a hang off a bookshelf/ window sill thing [ seems sketchy to me.., but if you have no dogs , cats , kids etc, etc.]

A picture's worth a thousand words:

I'm quite fond of the Comfort Cradle CC04 pole mount, because of the small (as in "no") footprint. It's as stable as the mic or music stand you mount it on.
The second is the Shoall (Ingles) SA-20 violin stand. Steady, stable, and low to the ground, that mandolin's not going anywhere & you have to work at it to tip it over...

Dang! I like both the fiddle pole mount and the fiddle stand. Does the pole mount have a neck holder like the Shoall, to prevent the instrument from falling out? The pole mount also has the height to allow enough space for a straight jack cord for the side jack on my fiddles and the Mandobird. Both my Konig and Meyer and my fiddle stand lack the height to accomodate a straight cord without bending it at the floor. My only concern about the pole mount is that the Mandobird might be a little heavy for the pole mount, unless I get a stand with some serious metal on the bottom.

Relative to the fiddle, I use a Meisel fiddle stand. It looks a lot like the Shoall, but I'm always a little apprehensive about the bow stand slipping down and damaging my fiddle stick. Does the Shoall have a bow stand? How does it attach? Does the pole mount accomodate a bow, as well?

While I'm at it, do you know of any stands that hold a fiddle in a playing position, to accomodate a quick switch between fiddle and mando? You know, something that would keep the fiddle raised up so that you could play it without taking it off the stand?

Thanks for the info and the two thousand words. I think I better get that pole stand, anyway. It's good excuse to keep a microphone stand in front of me, too!
