This one is being sold by a Cafe regular on EBay with a "buy it now" of over $4k. I probably appreciate this make and model as much as anyone on the Cafe, and may buy one someday, so that asking price has piqued my curiosity. of course no one can really say what the market will bear, but can anyone here recall if a Kentucky mandolin has ever sold for this much money. If not, this one (with its repaired crack) will be a first. Good luck to the seller.

And may a commensurate value trickle down to all the rest of of us who own 1984 Kentuckys.

I remember running into a fellow at Gettysburg Bluegrass festival who had one of these and a KM1500 or a KM1000. I believe he was selling both together for much less. It was early 90's and I didn't have the coinage to get them.

I sold one for $3200 and it went LIKE THAT (snaps fingers), so I don't think $4K is unreasonable.

Sergio Lara was selling his not long ago; I think he was asking $5K; not sure how it went down.

If Kentucky re-introduced these, I think they may sell well. But perhaps Eastman has the deal with Dawg, or Monty wouldn't want either company to release em.

SOLD!... at 3,299.00 plus just under a hundred bucks for shipping. A pretty fair chunk of change for a Kentucky I would say.

Gotta love it that some of these old Kentuckys are finally getting their due in the marketplace. Makes me think i might trade mine, straight across, for a Brentrup or a LeStock. Hmmm, maybe not quite yet. ;)
