Has anyone seen the new mandolin case that Gibson is about to market? Any pictures of this case out there yet?

I know that they have 2 of the Price cases at OAI with the Gibson Emblem. They are asking a pretty penny though at $750.

If one considers the value of the instrument within, the price seems justified. Maybe Gibson could see that their customers were buying Calton cases and similar makes, and decided their cases needed to be upgraded.
If my Varnished Fern had come in a $750 case, I wouldn't have needed to buy a Calton. I know there's a big price difference between the Calton and the new Gibson case, but if it comes with the mandolin, which one would you go with?
The Price case you all are talking about for $750.00 is not Gibson's new case. Big Joe told me they had just bought a couple cases from Mr. Price to put in their retail store. I think Calton and Gibson are working in conjunction to design a case exclusively for Gibson. As to when it will be available, I have no idea, maybe Charlie or Big Joe can give us a time frame.

Joe and Charlie have commented on this. The case is a Calton and it is for the Distressed Master Models, that come with two cases.

2 Cases? Let me guess, one is beat up and worn to look like the old Loar cases and has the smell of dirty socks in it. The other case is new and shinny and his the smell of new high dollar glue in it.

No, one is the old Loar style case that the MM comes with and the other is a Calton that Gibson has worked out a deal on. Supposedly (per Joe) it will have Gibson embossed in the top.
And both come with the Gibson story.

I talked to Calton a couple weeks ago and they said it would be ready when it is ready. I realize they are quite busy and it takes some time to finish a new design and get it ready for market. I am hoping to see a prototype in the next few weeks. I will keep everyone posted. These cases will ship with the Distressed Master Models, but it will also be available for resale to all who would like one. They should be a great improvement over current mandolin cases. Plenty of room for 'stuff' and the mandolin will have none of the issues found in some Caltons with the headstock areas. Hopefully this will be completed soon. I've been on this project for over a year and a half so far.
