Here is a real Gibson 12 string A4 mandolin (http://www.vintageinstruments.com/museum/12strnga-4fulpage.html)(from Banana's site). I would think that the neck on the eBay one would be narrow for 12 strings.

Odd; are there nut slots for the "extra" strings? (Yeah, guess I can kinda see 'em.) Planetary pegs down the middle of the headstock? Wow!

$1K seems a bit ambitious for one so thoroughly "re-jiggered."
