Ever played....?

Has anyone ever played a mandolin built by Eddie Blevins or Dan Voight? I'm always on the hunt for builders making great instruments at an affordable price (<$3k). I purchased a Northfield F5s about 10 days ago, and must say, the reviews to date are genuine. So, it can be done. Now the search is on for a hand crafted domestic F model by great builder who is doing his/ her best to break into a very discerning market. What think ye?

I've played one of Dan's instruments. He was local for me at the time. His workmanship is excellent and the tone of his instruments is very nice. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for at the time in terms of the tone (I was looking for something a little darker than the usual), but the tone of his instruments is very nice. In my humble opinion they are worth every penny of what Dan asks for them.
