Matt Flinner has great tone and is a very versatile player. Mike Marshall is also missing on your list.

For a more Celtic-y sound there is Simon Mayor. Solid traditional sound, yet can go off and jam with the best of them.

Check out Tristan Scroggins. He's a real up'n coming youngster of about 17 years old and the son of banjo phenom Jeff Scroggins. He's gonna be (already is) a good one.

Not new artists, but these are two albums that usually fly under the radar and have some cool mando music:

Jamie Laval and Ashley Broder -- "Zephyr in the Confetti Factory" (fiddle and mandolin duo)

Butch Baldassari -- "What's Doin'"

Butch Baldassari -- "What's Doin'"

Funny, was just listening to this the other day, and messing with A New-Q-Stik, fun tune to pick.

Not sure it ever made it to CD, but it's a good un for to hear some young Butch.

I just recently found out about Matt Mundy and the Aquarium Rescue Unit.

That's some of the greatest mandolin playing ever! The two albums I have "Mirrors of Embarrassment" and the self-titled live one have Matt Mundy all over them. I think he wasn't on some of the later ones.

David Benedict is a young, incredible player. He's coming out with his first CD this fall I believe.

Here's just a few clips:

Really? Nobody has mentioned Rieschman yet? Pretty much pulled me out of a mando slump last year.

I really enjoy Jesse Cobb's playing, but other than his work on the older stringdusters albums there's not a lot out there. I really like the instrumental albums Scott Vestal engineered a while back: Bluegrass '95, Bluegrass '96 etc. Wayne Benson plays mando on a lot of them and it's really good. As far as newer up and coming guys I have to say every time I've heard Matt Witler play I've enjoyed it a lot.

In the blues mandolin sector, Rich Del Grosso (http://www.mandolinblues.com/) and Bert Deivert (http://www.deivert.com/blues/Bert_Deivert_-_Blues_Mandolin.html).

Bert is based in Sweden. Rich is visiting him at the moment, and right about now some lucky people will be seeing them play together at the Amal Blues Festival (http://www.bluesfest.net/)

One more: David Surette. The Green Mandolin is a great album, for example, and someone has even transcribed most of the tracks on it (can't find the link but it's on the Cafe somewhere). Also check out his stuff on Bandcamp and Youtube.

If you've never indulged in classical mandolin and would like to hear what the style is capable of in solo setting, consider checking out:

Grebber, Sebastiaan de. 2007. Fantasia Romantica. (http://www.degrebber-mandolin.com/php/samplesordercd1.php)

Stephens, Alison. 2004. Con Espressione. Astute. (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/alisonstephens)

Tröster, Gertrud. 1995. The Romantic Mandolin of Raffaele Calace: 10 Preludes. Thorofon. (http://www.amazon.com/10-Preludes-Tr%C3%B6ster-Gertrud/dp/B0000279UT/)

Each of these is entirely unaccompanied solos without overdub and kinda amazing in being so. There are many more in similar vein, but these would be a good start.
