Here is the latest from Nashville. Red spruce/red maple with a compound board, hand rubbed burst and varnish. My changes are slowly adding up on each of the instruments I have finished over the past year and I am really excited about where the tone is settling. At a month old, this mandolin was a blast to play. The video and pictures were taken with my iphone. For those of you who will at the Swannanoa Gathering in August, make sure to say "hi". This mandolin will be there with me.

Excellent. You are a pretty good player with similar right hand characteristics to myself which is what audio samples always lack for me. I can never tell how the instrument might really sound if I had it. Been watching your work every so often on the Cafe here and may consider an instrument from you in the (probably distant due to finances) future. Nice stuff.

Man, the execution of the binding inside the scroll is really something on this mando!

Dan,

Am definitely looking forward to seeing you at Swannanoa! You'll be eager to get rid of me before I'm done!

Any chance you might be bringing an "A" model as well?

It's a beautiful instrument Dan; sounds even better. And your playing is outstanding.

Also: I notice that the truss rod cover on the headstock doesn't have any screws. How does it stay on?

Sounding awfully good for only a month old Dan. In fact, it sounds AND looks great. Nice job.
