Gibson A-5 (#177939)

I am trying to find out the value of my Dad's Gibson A-5 Mandolin. He loved playing that mandolin. He has passed and I am supposed to try to sell it as part of the estate. My brother would like to buy it and is hoping to find out what the value is. Can anyone help me find out more?

I'm new to this but I'll try to post a photo.

I inherited half of my Dad's car and bought the other half from my sister. If something is left equally to two people, each owns half.
My mother's name was Lois!
As fatt-dad says, it is not a highly valued Gibson mandolin, as Gibson mandolins go, but the very fact that it is a Gibson makes it worth more than the quality of that model would merit under another name. $3000 seems a little high to me, but I really haven't been following the values of these things lately.

My feeling exactly, but there are 7 kids and two (crooks) are counting every penny worth of whatever is carried out of the house. We are at our wit's ends. It is a mess, so the only way to handle it is to get the value of items and offer to the kids at half the value. That's what we agreed on. It's nuts.

Feel for you. :( Hope you don't have it as bad as my brother-in-laws dad. Him and his 2 sisters had to split some money from a family deal. Dividing by 3, came to so many dollars and 33 1/3 cents. One of the sisters asked his dad if he had a tool they could cut the extra penny into 3 pieces for the 1/3 of a cent share!!!!

I found them online for anywhere from $1500 to $4500 so I am lost. I hate that we can't just give it to my brother. I don't want anything. Dad is gone and it feels sick to take any of his money and belongings. I have 6 siblings and some of them act like starving people fighting over the last crust of bread. It is very disheartening. Simple, list it on the cafe for $200.00 and have your brother buy it then split the money 7 ways.
