Technically, for Bill Amatneek to be the right answer, the question should read "Who was the bass player who played on the first DGQ record (Kaleidoscope F-5)?" I stand by my answer that the bass player in the original Quintet was Joe Carroll (since deceased). He never recorded with the band.

8. ...Neal?(or Neil). I think one of Red's son's died as a young man. I seem to remember a eulogy written by one of the boys hung on the wall at Sam's Bar & Grill in Dayton, Ohio, about 25 years ago. Red and them used to play there.

I'll take a shot at #1. I believe the original bluegrass boys were, Cleo Davis on guitar, Art Wooten on fiddle, and Amos Garren on bass. Bill played mando obviously.

Wayne came back to play with the rest of the
Bluegrass Boys on the last shows. IMHO, that does
not qualify Wayne as the last guitar player.

Actually, Dana is the guitar player for the Osbornes, but
he, being a great multi-instrumentalist, fills in where
needed. You should here him play mandolin. He is one
of the best at playing Monroe.
