This octave was made by my friend Dick Robson in Hancock, VT. I figured I'd share while I had it in the shop for a fret level/dress and setup... it's pretty much a stunner in person, too!

Oh, it's actually just lighting on the finish. The strings have so much clearance that it'd be REALLY hard to put wear on it... :D

It looks lovely. But have him slap a truss rod cover on there! It's like a beautiful wedding cake with a corner unfrosted.

Beautiful, love the headstock design, +1 on the truss rod cover though ;)

Gorgeous! I think that a truss rod cover made to match and blend in with the birdseye headstock overlay would look really nice. Just my leetle opinion.

Oh, I totally agree with you fellas, and so does the builder. I offered to cut a bit of birdseye veneer for him, too, but I guess after 7 years of thinking about it he wanted to do it himself... ;)

What's the scale length on that Birdseye Beauty?

Nice, Jake. How does it sound?

Scale: I thought it was longer when I first held it but it's 23" -- and Bill, the sound is lush and full but crisp as far as focus goes. I wouldn't want to be trying to cut through an old time jam but in a trio or four-piece it would be killer.

Drool, just drool.

I think it's fine without a truss rod cover. Don't be a slave to fashion.

That OM is a lovely sight to behold - looks like Western Red Cedar on the top. Very nice burst on that exquisite birdseye maple. I'd love to hear it.
