Bonnies and Boys

I've come across references to people "doing the bonnies and the boys" and it sounds like a fairly common/standard set.

Are they always the same tunes or are they any pair of tunes with girls names and any pair of tunes with boys names (or am I barking up the wrong heather bush entirely)?
