I was wondering if anyone remembers Zebra (http://www.thedoor.com) from back in 80's? They are one of the most talented and under-rated bands ever. They had a couple of hits like, "Tell me what you want" and "Who's behind the door?" that were heavy rotation on MTV and 102.7 WNEW-FM in New York.

I was wondering if anyone has heard "Riverside"? I know the guitar parts but not the mandolin parts.

Thanks-a-bunch, http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

I used to go see Zebra all the time in local bars when I was younger. I think they started out as a LedZep cover band, and I remember being impressed with their accuracy. Then they came out with original music and it was pretty good. They broke through on the airwaves a few times. I certainly remember the song, but I don't have the music to it. Anyone else?

I love Zebra. I have a few of their albums on cassette at home. I really loved that first album (those songs you've listed Keith and the "'La' song"...orowords to that effect). I don't recall much of their subsequent albums (gimme a break; it's been 15-20 years since I've been listening to it). I'll try to remember to look for "Riverside" this weekend and stew on it.

Santiago and Eugene, Thank you both for responding. I thought I was the only guy on the planet that remembered Zebra http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Anyway the song "Riverside", it was orginally suppose to be on the album 3.V but never made it on there. It is on the ZEBRA Black and White the very best of Zebra CD.

My problem is that I think Randy Jackson is using some type of reverberation and I'm not grasping the mando part totally.

Thank you gusy for all of your help.

Keith,

Don't know the mando part for the song you are speaking of, but I do remember Zebra. They used to do quite a few shows in DC...what a great band...I've also seen Randy doing the guitar and vocals with a symphony for a show entitled "The Music of (drum roll please....) Led Zeppelin"...

Hey there Brian,

I'm on Randy Jackson's mailing list and I see that he's been doing the Led Zep Orchestra thing again. I wish I had some time to go back east to catch one of his shows.

I remember listening to the first record a lot back when I was into art rock...high school years. There was some really layered production on it, sounded great in the car.

Randy Jackson is going to be in Dallas next month. I don't know if it's the Zep orchestra show or one of his solo acoustic sets. Either way it would be really cool to see him play
