i want to purchase a kentucky 150s as my first mandolin, what are your thoughts on it. if its not a good choice can you help me pick a better one. i want to play bluegrass http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

If your budget will allow it, I'd suggest getting a good used American A-style. First, it will sound and PLAY better. You'll enjoy playing more, play more, and progress faster. If mandolin isn't your thing after trying it, you will be more likely to get your money back on selling your instrument. If, on the other hand, you love it and want to aquire a better instrument, you've got a better trade.

If you're only going to spend $150 or less, then the KM150s is about as good as you'll find.
