I'm familiar with this Charmichael tune from the first Garcia/Grisman record, and have always struggled to identify the changes, anybody got 'em? Thanks...

Hope the font let's the changes land correctly, anyway they'll be close:

D # D9 # D9sus4 #D9 # D7/9 # # G # # G6 # # # # Gm7 #Edim
Ol' rock - in' chair's got me, # my cane by my side;

D # #F#m # # B7 # # # E7 # # # # # # # # A7 # Edim
Fetch me that gin, son, 'fore I tan your hide.

Bm # F#7 # # # # # #Bm7 # F#7 Bm7 C#7 #F#7
Can't get from this cabin, # #go #no #where

E7 #Bm7-5 # # # # #E7
Just sittin' here grabbin'

# # # #A7 # # # # # # A7+5 # # #D
At the flies 'round my rockin' chair.

Bridge:

D7 # # Fdim #D9 # D7 # # # #D7 # # #Fdim D9 #D7
My dear old Aunt Harriet -- in Hea - ven she be --

C#7 # # # # # F#m # # B7 # # # # E7 # # # # #Bm7-5 # # #A7 #E7 #A7
Send me sweet chariot, # for the end of that trouble I see.

D # D9 # D9sus4 #D9 #D7/9 # # G # # # # G6 # # Gm7 #Edim
Ol' rock - in' chair gets it; #judgment day is here,

Chained to my old rock - in' chair.

Gosh, I can't see why they would have been difficult to identify ;) I'm taking this home to learn it backwards and forwards, thanks for the help!

Of course, coming off the web you'll have to wade through which are the passing chords but it flows pretty nice once ya play around with it.

Do you remember what font the original text was in? I may just be able to cut/paste and change the type face to get the right spacing...

I really don't recall the font type, but if you listen to the tune and play along you'll find what can be left out to get just the main changes. The first line can just be D D7 G Gm7 Edim, for example, at least it works for me for what little I've played with it. I just play with the passing chords to find the little melody lines within that can be used. That's the fun of getting some of this stuff off the web.

Here's where it came from:
