There have been lots of requests about what these sound like, especially in a live context..
Emando.com's got a lot of good information on Brazilian emando, and I wanted to make sure you folks at MC don't miss it.. In particular, there's a page on the "King of Bandolim" in Brazil, Armandinho.
On that page, there's a link to him playing at the Kennedy Center along with a group called the "Tucan Trio" (flute/percussion/guitar). He plays an Ovation MM68 for most of the performance, but switches to a 5 string electric (in Brazil, this is called a Bahian Guitar) for one tune. Amazing stuff - kind of Choro meets Yngwie Malmsteen.. Complete with fingerboard tapping and whammy bar..
As I told Martin, TEKNO SCHMEKNO - this is the real deal! Thanks to Martin for emando.com; what a great resource!

Technical note: you'll probably need broadband to see it. Oh, and I think the trio plays a couple of tunes before Armandinho appears, so you might want to FF it a bit if you're only interested in the mando parts.
