Howdy,
I'm in town for two days and saw this posting for this crappy yet sort of cool lookin mando.

seller writes,"Tyler mountain mandolin it's an electric acoustic but the input no longer works maybe needs to be soldered , I got it used as my first mando one of the tuners in the back was pulling away so I super glued it , it works fine now , it's not a bad little mando somthing to bang around the house. I have an ibanez now and am getting an eastman so I have no use for this anymore so I figured IDE put it up"
WELL I'm connected with the owner of a music store who often throws free instruments my way, free repairs and all the works, he does this to pay off some work that I have done for him for years.
Wondering what hope there is for this $40 mando. Like if the neck is just totally screwed I could probably have my man replace the neck. obviously the tuners need to be fixed. Just the body is visually appealing. I've got an f-style already, but I like the jazzy look of this. Of course if I was REALLY serious I would just go ahead and spend real money on a proper mandolin.
Just wondering if you guys think I could restore this up to decent playability (maybe comparaible to a kentucky or the loar?) and just bang it around the house.
I contacted the guy and will meet him this evening. would like any input from you cafe members before I see him.
