1914 GIBSON F4 MANODLIN, excellent condition. I keep thinking about this darn thing. But I think the price is wrong.

OK, assume there was supposed to be a link there..?

Didn't seem to find one on eBay. Tracking the "manodlin" misspelling, assume it's this one (http://www.guitarcenter.com/In-Store-Vintage-VINTAGE-1914-GIBSON-F4-MANODLIN-WC-022213-108708926-i3008332.gc) at Guitar Center?

Good price, for one with Handel tuners, and you have a 72-hour return policy. $4K is "low market," IMHO. Might be worth investing the shipping costs for a look-see.

I called and offered them $3000 (even though I don't own a car right now, and should really get one of those first -- or at least put some brakes on the old Corvair). Said they weren't interested. I guess they were right to stick to their guns.

That is the danger of posting a mandolin for sale on this site.

Wow, Marty, an old Corvair. You are truly cool. I always wanted on one of those and I was going to have the back incribed with, "Unsafe at any speed" - Ralph Nader

I went in to GC to "try it out" one more time, hoping that the e-strings wouldn't deafen me. And guess what? It was gone! I strongly suspect one of you guys. And when I find that person, I want to ...

... thank them. You saved me $4,000 that I didn't really want to spend, but might have HAD TO. Hope it works out well for whoever bought it.

That's a total of $219,000 that I saved this week. Because I also didn't buy the $215,000 Gibson that Elderly has on their website. Which means that I should be able to buy that $5000 brand new Weber without any spousal dissent. Right? I mean it's a net $211,000 GAIN for God's sake! (By the way, it sold for ... $4000, the asking price.)

Now that is the kind of MASeconomics I understand. I went to Nashville a while back, went to the Gibson factory store, was tempted to by that wonderful $15,000 that I played, discipline got the better of me, went to Gruhn's and spent $1000 on a great old vintage mandolin I didn't know I wanted, and felt good as I figured I saved about $14,000.

But the real question is: What did the Family CEO/Significant Other/SWMBO think about "saving" that much money?
