I'm thinking of trying out a Collings MT 353.
Has anyone heard one yet?
Do you think a Collings would be good for the peculiar mix of styles I play (choro, South American, Italian, classical, Portugese etc) or do you think of the Collings sound as strictly bluegrass?

Thanks,
Mark

Collings has the MT (basic A), MT2 (fancier A), MF (basic F), and MF5 (fancier F). I've never heard of a Collings MT353, unless that's the Tim O'Brien model, in which case, good luck finding one to try out. I don't think any are out yet.

It could be an MT2 with Serial Number 353... In any case, Collings are great for all styles. I play classical, celtic, and bluegrass and my Collings A sounds great - in spite of the operator.

Best,
Ken

Good point, Ken. Yes, I agree, a Collings can be great for all kinds of music. And if it's the MT (retail around $1800) you're getting a lot of sound for the $.

Just a guess but you are probably reading the serial number as part of the model number. What ever it is you will love it!
