As an early birthday present, I got a new mandolin. A gorgeous Vintage (brand name, not an oldie) VFM300VSB F-style which I got - brand new - for less than half the RRP of £459 (happy birthday me!) with its own custom made hard case. It's got a solid maple body and sides, solid spruce arched top, 25 frets, gold hardware, ebony bridge, Victorian-style fret markers and plays and sounds like an absolute dream. I'm in love!
My poor starter mandolin - a Stagg M50E - is now somewhat redundant for the moment but, as it's an electro acoustic, still fills a niche for when I want to record or mess about with funky sound effects.
So, here are pictures of my precious and my Stagg, I've included stock pictures too cos my camera's not that wonderful. The Stagg plays really well, it's a great starter instrument and I still value it but right now - understandably - the Vintage is getting all the lurve. (Click to enlarge.)
