New World Youth Orchestra D-45V Martin Guitar Raffle

Mike Marshall encouraged me to post this and I thought it worthy since funding projects like this have become more and more difficult of late. Mike has performed with this group and supports their efforts.

The New World Youth Orchestra (http://www.nwyso.org/) is raffling off a brand new (with warranty) Martin D45 V Guitar. They have 5000 tickets available to sell at $25 for one, or 5 for $100.00. The raffle began March 1st and will conclude with a live drawing at our performance on Mother's Day.

Down side: you have to manually print the ticket request and mail it in--there's no online purchase point apparently. Still, $25 to win a pricey guitar like this isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I recommended this site just today to the director and founder of the New World Youth Orchestras who's also a great friend of mine, so thanks to Mike Marshall for the support and Scott for posting this right away!

The work Susan Kitterman does with the kids is top notch. I was a part of the orchestras throughout the 90's, and I've taken away many many musical and life skills from the experience.

The repertoire they study and perform is world-class, and frankly their top orchestra is better than many college and community orchestras. It's hard to find a higher level of (music) education anywhere. Susan Kitterman is inspiring and loving, really one of the treasures of the midwest!

I'm actually having a lot of trouble expressing my gratitude to Susan and all those who make the NWYO possible. With the way arts funding is these days, there's a great deal of need for monetary support. PLEASE support their cause and invest in tomorrow's musicians!

Fellow pickers,

There are only a couple of weeks left until the drawing for the Martin Guitar D-45V Guitar (May 12th)!!! If you're in the Indianapolis area, please go to their concert also. I will warn you though, these young musicians WILL blow you away and inspire you.

I can't say again how much being in this group shaped me as a musician; even today I still remember all the things Mrs. Kitterman taught me. Please support the up and coming young musicians!
