Well, no mando content here, but I just wanted to link to this Oahu catalog I scanned today (http://antebelluminstruments.blogspot.com/2013/03/c1939-oahu-guitar-catalog-no-23270k.html).

I put the whole thing up, front cover to back, and figured there would at least be a few Oahu fans over here that might enjoy seeing it all. :)

Wow, they even have grass skirts. I wonder if any of the DeLuxe model guitars survive until now? Seems like i've seen one of the Bassoguitars somewhere, maybe at Janet Davis' store.

Here's one deluxe:

Here's an earlier one:

And here's another:

I'm a big fan of old Oahu gear. I somehow never seem to hold onto it because people always grab it out from under me before I can think about what to move around in the herd to keep it... :)

Some of the old Oahu guitars have a real beautiful warmth to them and they made some of the coolest art deco mother-of-toilet-seat covered amps around!

I'm just going to order one of these. Let me know where to send the $158. Cleveland, right?

Well, it is guaranteed to be the finest guitar ever manufactured. Plus, they offer easy terms and take trade ins.

I'm going to hand engrave that stencil design on my james tailpiece cover I think.... unless I can draw up something I like better.

Here's an Oahu square neck that I picked up this weekend. It's in great shape and sounds sweet.

It would be easier to just order (and pick it up) when you go in for your lesson.

I've owned a half dozen Oahu's over the years, most I bought as basket cases. They were left in attics and simply imploded from the heat. They are always fun to put back together. I'd go for that Bassoguitar as well.

The funny bit about Oahus is how the Regal and Kay versions of the same model seem to have kept changing maker year to year. The fancier-looking stuff tends to have been made by Kay but every time I think that a weirdo Regal-made version pops up!
