Play guitar, play mandolin, no need to swap out instruments. Could the scroll on this one qualify for the "worst scroll thread"?
Hard to imagine such a large sound chamber for the mandolin portion.

I have to admit that of all the ways of combining a mandolin and a guitar, this is the least aesthetically awkward body shape I have seen, and most looks like a single integrated instrument. The way the lower bout is shared equally by both sides, and one side has the mandolinny scroll while the other has the guitarish shoulder.

Many combo instruments look like two instrument train wrecks, or awkwardly conjoined twins. This is different. This has some logic and appeal.

I seriously wonder how it sounds.

Roper Guitars eh, I have some googling to do.

Look at it from a left handed players view though, It looks quite good from that angle.

Where do you mount an armrest on that one?

The body design is shameless plagiarism...

I'm not a pancake guy so I'm not all that interested in how it sounds, though still curious. But I can guess. Odd to see the pin arrangement rather than hooks - must take ball end strings. I guess the builder is more in tune with guitars.

It's all speculation now - it's been taken down. For posterity:

Just saw this in another ebay ad... I believe made by Andy Manson. The ad was not for the double-neck, but it's a really nice execution.. I mean, if you must do this.

Now that looks a lot cooler. I wonder if the inner chamber could be separated to achieve a familiar tone for the mandolin?

How do you get a tailpiece on that 2nd one ? Looks like a floating bridge.

Not everyone's cup of tea I understand but I've never seen one of his instruments that wasn't special.

(NFI other than I'm happy to own a beautiful Manson F5!)

I'd bid on that Andy Manson doubleneck, but from what I understand, you're required to wear tight leather pants if you play one of those. That's the deal-breaker for me.

You're thinking along these lines I know... but I think its the triple neck that requires compulsory leather pant wearing!

And for when you want many necks but unsullied by horrible guitar/bass variants: triple neck mandos!:

That is a beautiful instrument. Wish I could sit down with it for an hour or two.

I think an instrument like that has a difinite place in jamming, especially a mixed jam with some singing songs and some fiddle tunes. One could contribute guitar backing to old country tunes and then put in some mandolin riffs. Lots of options.

I am just imagining a whole lot of fun in one box. Assuming it sounds pretty good.
