Finally getting around to posting some pics of my new Guitar Works "The Bon Air". It's my first mandolin and only been playing it for a couple weeks but really enjoying it :mandosmiley:. There's hardly any discussion on this make and model so I'm guessing that there isn't many out there. Take a look and see what you think. Maybe soon I'll post a video so you'll be able to hear the tone but it sounds really good to me. Anyway here SHE is:

Thanks for looking. What do you think after playing it for 18 months?

It used to be the name of an air conditioning company here.

It reminds me I need to buy a Lotto ticket.
The island of Bonaire is my favorite place on Earth.
Some of the best Scuba diving in the world, and the
humidity would be great for my instruments.

It Looks like a decent import (made in China?) that is labelled with the store brand. It looks pretty nice esp for the reasonable price. Bon Air mandolin (http://www.guitarworksinc.net/store/productdisplay.asp?productid=1556). From the video it sounds like a good deal for $400 F model.

I have one of these. Not too bad in terms of tone; not the greatest or loudest. BUT it came set up correctly, with polished frets and low action. It's incredibly easy to play.

It's kind off too bad they go to all the work of making the scroll, etc., when that money could be better spent on a simple A-style design with better wood so the tone would be better.

But I just cannot fault these things in terms of intonation or playability.

What better woods do you think they should use? How pretty the wood has no direct bearing on tone or volume.
