This is my new Peter Sawchyn mandolin and it sounds remarkably like my 1921 F-4 ,Peter makes fabulous instruments.

I've played one of those F-4 Sawchyn's, owned by "Jomando." It appears nearly identical to yours, except that it has no pickguard. They do sound great and they are just beautiful. I think it has opened up very nicely over the last year, so you have even more to look forward to. Congratulations!

Looks great, I love the F4s made by contemporary luthiers.

Wow, what a great looking mando - I bet it sounds great too. #Congratulations. #I'll try to post some pics of my new Sawchyn A2c that came home with me recently (I think I finally got the digital camera thing figured out).

Is the fingerboard elevated or on the top?

Thanks again guys for your kind comments, here are some more images taken with a flash , I hope it shows o.k.
Berkely Mando , the fingerboard is attached to the top, like the old Gibsons, I have often wondered what effect this has on the sound.

I was just looking back through the archive looking for another thread and came up with this. Up in Canada were he's from(Regina) there are a lot of his guitars floating around. He makes some trully great axes. I've played maybe 8 of them over the years, and they are all great guitars. Ben Sures(of Hippo and Canary fame) plays one,and he swears by it....Kerry
