Of course, everyone has their favorites. There's Steve Earle, The Texas Guitar Women (hey, that includes Cindy Cashdollar), Carolina Chocolate Drops, Marcia Ball - but I'm most thrilled by The Jim Kweskin Jug Band 50th Anniversary Reunion. This is billed as the exclusive East Coast festival appearance, but they are also playing two nights at Cambridge's Club Passim (the old Club 47) just before this. The tour was announced only recently, and hopefully more dates will be filled in. There are a few California club dates in June and early July. Very little MC, though Geoff Muldaur may play mandolin or banjolin on a couple songs, notably "Minglewood Blues," if he can borrow someone's instrument. He did that to my banjolin once, leaving it in this odd open tuning (the E strings were in a third), so utility man Eric Weissberg tuned it back right - in half a minute, in perfect pitch. My running joke ever since is he tuned it so well I would never have to tune it again. ;) But I digress ...
