I have made 13 consecutive Merlefests and plan to go again this year. I have never gone to Grey Fox. It seems to be in the middle of nowhere. I assume camping is the only option.

outsidenote -- actually, the town of east durham has lots of really old and questionable hotels and motels and there is at least one very nice bed and breakfast -- the caveat is that the town is pretty much overrun by Irish musicians for that entire week who book their hotel rooms months in advance. However, if you want to do some searching, you can check out Catskill Irish Arts Week and there's a nice roundup of hotels, motels, rooms and bed and breakfasts with contact information and (i think) prices. CIAW is held something like four miles down the road from Grey Fox and if you come early, you can join in the ITM people, who begin playing music on front porches and back yards early in the afternoon (we take workshops before and after lunch, followed by lectures and dances and then a concert every night) and don't mostly quit until about 3 a.m.
I'll admit up front it's not bluegrass and the playing style is completely different, but it's really something to be in the middle of.

Grey Fox was fantastic as usual. I've enjoyed volunteering (officially) as a videographer since
2009 and get treated like royalty. I'm also honored to be "working" with some very talented
videographers and photographers. We've all become good friends.
