Just a heads up especially for the UK people that Mike Harding so recently disgracefully sacked by the BBC has now got his new website and weekly internet podcast Folk Show up and running.

Apart from being a great show by someone who knows and loves the music the site will act as a hub for information on gigs, clubs and sessions.

It was so popular for the first edition that the servers crashed as over twenty seven thousand people tried to log on in the first five minutes.

You can find the him here http://www.mikehardingfolkshow.com and here http://www.facebook.com/TheMikeHardingFolkShow

Have a look and a listen, you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for that Ivan - looks like it could well be a Sobell mandolin to me? I actually tried to find a clip of him playing mandolin in response to the other thread in the "celtic music" section (which Gelsenbury has posted a link to) but didn't succeed. I don't know Mike but have played in a few sessions with him in various Manchester pubs :mandosmiley:

Trying to embed the video..

Going back to the Folk music 'boom' era,Mike was the biggest draw at the old MSG (Manchester Sorts Guild) club.I think that apart from Mike, only Dave Swarbrick & Martin Carthy could pull in a full house every time. Amongst his other talents,Mike is also an author of several books,a playright & a 1st class photographer. Incidentally, the MSG is where Bill Monroe & the Boys played back in June '66 when they came to Manchester - that night was pretty packed out too,
