A humbling experience to get to visit with 2 legends.....the A5 and Tut. He was a very welcoming fellow and a wealth of knowledge

I want to thank Lynn Dudenbostel for the chance to go over to Tut's house and see this.....

Pictures were taken in the 1990's......note the hide that Tut had all sorts of folks sign. Those pictures in themselves are priceless!

Wow, look at John Hartford's handwriting! He would have written the Constitution with that script!

Yeah....he had it back from the person who had bought it from him and I was very, very lucky to get to see it.

I don't know who owns it today but I'm sure you and others know who it is. It sounded just like a Loar......fancy that....really a mind bender....

I could easily be wrong, but I believe the pics were taken in early 2002 (unless he had it twice)

Well I stand corrected......looked at the file extensions on the pictures and it was 5/10/2002......everything else is from the 90's and early 2000's....

I had a great oportunity recently to spend a day with 74003 and compare it to one of my early A5s. I had a blast and took lots of notes, graduations, pictures, etc. I've never posted these pictures so maybe this is a good place to share them.

Great thread! Nice mandolin, Gail! I'll take either one, but maybe a "Hester Loar A5 Clone" is more within reach. . .

Yes, I was pretty sure because I happened to be back in Knoxville working a temporary job from March to Sept 2002 when he had the mando in his possession. Byron Doss and I went to see him
