Just taken delivery of a beautiful mandolin from Paul Shippey

This is his oval hole, maple model

It looks great and plays very sweetly.

It is wonderfully resonant over the whole compass, ranging from a rich, clear bass to an almost bell-like clarity at the top end.

You may have guessed . I'm impressed and delighted.

Have a look at http://www.paulshippey.co.uk/

Merry Christmas - Andy

For me, Paul is the best mandolin builder in the UK.

A friend of mine has one of Pauls maple models, it's very very good.

Andy, fantastic, What a Xmas present !!!!! You have got your Shippey at last and it's as expected. You will have lots of fun with that maple.
Have to agree with Dave here, nobody better than Paul, he's a genius. I've got two and I'm getting another........
All the best

It is seriously beautiful. How does it sound? Is it best suited to any particular style of music - such as folk/traditional or blues or jazz?

Looks very nice indeed. The Shippeys I've played have been very good and this one looks like it will be as well.

What kind of tuners are those?
Beautiful color, too. Elegant and rich looking presentation.

Paul usually fits individual mini Gotohs on his oval hole mandolins.
