im still checkin out other bouzouki's, and i was on folk of the wood looking around and the johnson bouzouki caught my eye. it looked really attractive and the price seemed reasonable. do you think it would be a good choice, or go with anyone else? thanks, i appreciate the input.

The fellow I talked to at FOTW said he prefered the johnson om-550 to any of the TC or comparable mid-mo instruments. I didn't ask what he thought about the johnson 'zouks, but I'd be really interested in hearing what people think of the johnson Om's ect.

sorry to tag on to the thread...

I can't be certain, but the Johnson MA-450 is virtually identical to the Trinity College OM, leading me to believe that both company's instruments come from the same factory in Korea. See http://www.folkofthewood.com/page983.htm

The 550 is a completely different body type.

So, has anybody here played the 550?

I play a Johnson MA400 and really like its tone. It has a very long scale though and is quite heavy (don't know if the heaviness is common).
