I hope im posting in the right section...
I am looking for a mandolin workshop of about a week duration for sometime next march (2013), we will be on holiday in the usa and i would like to try and find a suitable mandolin course whilst the wife and son go and play golf!
Does anyone know of any possible courses or workshops around that time? I didnt find much on the mandolin cafe worshops page. I dont have any specific geographic limits yet - just needs a golf course somewhere nearby lol.
Any suggestions would be welcome :)
Thanks.

What genre(s) of music are you interested? Carlo Aonzo (http://www.carloaonzo.com/fr_manhattan.cfm) does his yearly classical workshop usually about 3-4 days over a weekend in New York City. It was usually end of March but it looks like next year it will be April 4-7.

For the last two years I have organized a weekend choro workshop in NYC in the spring with Dudu Maia, an excellent bandolim player and teacher. I am not sure if it is happening or when in 2013. I will announce it on this site if and when it does.

On the other coast in Port Townsend, WA, Centrum has a choro workshop (http://centrum.org/programs/choro/) that is pretty extensive and intensive.

Several Steve Kaufman workshops in Oregon and Minnesota listed here. (http://www.flatpik.com/Steves-Touring-Schedule) Don't know how good a Minnesota April would be for golf...

In April, Mandolin Camp North (http://www.mugwumps.com/mcn.html) in Massachusetts. March Mandolin Festival (http://www.ccmusicschool.org/concertseventscalendar/special-events) in Concord, New Hampshire, at the beginning of March 2013; Skip Gorman's a big attraction, if he's there next year, but early March is not golf weather in New England. Flatpick Guitar Weekend (http://stlflatpick.com/Iinformation.html) in St. Louis, Missouri, includes some mandolin workshops.

I'd get on Google and just start searching "mandolin workshop March 2013"; seems to be a number of possibilities. As to the golf part, you're on your own...

Thanks ever so much for the info guys :) i will have a look through that. I did a google search but its hard to know when i.e. a guitar camp does mandolin lol.
I also just had an email come in from the UK 'sore fingers' school about their courses for that time, so maybe i will have to investigate that too [been there three times for banjo which was good].
as for the golf... no i cant stand it either lol :)
thanks again...
