Just a heads up to note that Charley Rappaport on mandolin and Joe Kovach on guitar, collectively known as The Great American Gypsies, have recently released a new CD, "Before I Had a Red Tomato." #As many on this board will know, Charley is a fabulous mandolin player who specializes in the music of Russia and Eastern Europe. #The new album features music from Russia, Ukraine, Bosnia, Romania, Hungary as well as some Klezmer and gypsy pieces.
Charley and Joe are favorites at CMSA conventions and this year they performed a nice set of Russian and Russian Jewish music with Alan Epstein. #
Charley has been giving me lessons on mandola, focusing on gypsy swing and Klezmer music. #He teaches at Acoustic Music Works in Pittsburgh. #For more information on the new CD check out their website:
